Muntra sends the patient to DTX Studio by running DTX Studio’s own helper program, DTXSync, with the patient’s details. Setup takes about five minutes.
Before you start
- Use the installed (offline) version of Muntra. You can create the integration in the web version, but the path to DTXSync can only be chosen in the installed version, and the X-ray button for DTX Studio is only shown there.
- Gender is always sent as OTHER. Every patient is shown as OTHER in DTX Studio. This is intentional: DTX Studio only accepts MALE, FEMALE or OTHER in capital letters, and Muntra stores gender in lowercase. The patient’s gender is kept in Muntra.
Set up the integration
- In DTX Studio: go to Settings > PMS Integration (“Journalsystemsintegration”) and turn on both Enable PMS integration and Update patient information.
- In the installed version of Muntra: click the cogwheel at the top right and choose Advanced.
- Open the Systems integrations tab.
- Under Systems integrations, click the plus icon. Under Select system, choose DTX Studio, update/create and click Create new systems integration.
- Click the new integration in the list to open its settings.
- Under Path to the system, on my local computer, click the Browse icon and select DTXSync (not DTXStudio). If a path is already filled in, remove it first.
- Windows: DTXSync.exe, usually in C:\Program Files\DTX Studio Clinic
- Mac: DTXSync, usually in /Applications/DTXStudio.app/Contents/Applications/DTXSync.app/Contents/MacOS/
- Under String parameters (advanced), click the row with the label -g. In Replacing RegEx, enter “OTHER” (including the quotes) and click Save parameter string.
- Click the row with the label -b and check that Replacing RegEx is “$1” (including the quotes). Correct it and save if it is not.
- Test the integration (see below).
Note: The path is shared by every computer in the clinic, so DTXSync must be installed in the same place on every computer that uses it. If the clinic uses both Mac and PC, create one integration for each.
Test the integration
- Use a test patient with an invented name and an invented but valid ID number. Never test on a real patient.
- Send the patient from Muntra with the X-ray button on the patient.
- Check in DTX Studio that the patient exists with the correct name and birth date, and gender OTHER.
- Send the same patient again. The existing patient should be updated, not duplicated.
- Change the test patient’s last name in Muntra and send again. The name should update in DTX Studio.
Correct string parameters
The values in Replacing RegEx include the quotes.

Do not change -r on a clinic that is already using the integration. DTX Studio recognises patients only by this value, so every existing patient would be duplicated and their old images left on the old patient.
Troubleshooting
- Nothing happens when clicking the X-ray button: use the installed version of Muntra. Check that the path points to DTXSync, not DTXStudio, and that Mac and PC have separate integrations.
- Duplicate patients in DTX Studio: the -r row has been changed. It must use xray_id.
- Name changes don’t reach DTX Studio: “Update patient information” is turned off in DTX Studio.
- A name with special characters is cut off: quotes or other special characters in the name are breaking the command.
- Works on one computer but not another: check the path, the DTX Studio version and the user permissions on that computer.
Find the exit code
For other problems, run the command by hand and read the exit code:
- Open the developer console (the Console tab in Chrome) and copy the DTXSync command Muntra ran.
- Paste it into Command Prompt on Windows and then type echo %ERRORLEVEL%, or into Terminal on Mac and then type echo $?

If the command works by hand but not from Muntra, check the path and the string parameters. If it also fails by hand, the problem is in DTX Studio.
